My group was required to apply the audit knowledge learnt during lessons to a case study provided by our professor. The group project required us to study the Singapore Standards on Auditing (SSAs) and determine which SSAs were relevant and could be applied to the case study. In addition, we had to come up with the audit strategy and audit plan for the case study.
We split up the project into a few sections and each group member would complete one section of the project. Initially, I felt that this was an efficient way to do the group project. However, as we were working individually on the respective sections of the project, we realised that a majority part of the project needed us to discuss together so that the content of the report would be consistent.
Through this project, I learnt the importance of discussing the content of the report first before we split up the project into individual parts. The discussion not only made the report content consistent, it also allowed all group members to clarify their doubts and be clear of what were their tasks in the project.
